Zepp sensor and tennis app now offers Play Tracking—delivering instant analysis after every practice session and match.
LOS GATOS, Calif. – May 19, 2015 – Zepp Labs, the leader in sports sensor technology, rolls out Zepp Tennis 2.0. The updated app works with any Zepp sensor and allows tennis players and coaches to analyze serves in 3D and track their match play on any iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. In addition, Zepp is pleased to partner with the top-ranked Milos Raonic (ATP World Tour #4) as the latest world-class athlete to join the Zepp team. Raonic is a Canadian tennis pro regarded as one of the best servers on tour. Notably, in 2014, Raonic became the first player from his country to end a season in the top 10 after winning a personal-best 40 matches and capturing a sixth career title. He was also the first player born in the 1990s to qualify for Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Zepp Tennis 2.0 instantly delivers analysis from a practice session or match so players can focus on and measure three main areas of play—Intensity, Consistency, and Power. The intensity score breaks down total active and inactive time during your match, and how many shots are taken. The Consistency score identifies strengths and weaknesses and measures how often players are hitting the sweet spot with their forehand, backhand, and serve. The Power score captures your racquet speed for every shot and serve and provides feedback on ball spin. Both Power and Consistency breaks down each shot by forehand, backhand, topspin, flat, and slice. These metrics offer players and coaches a data-driven, scientific way to evaluate performance on the court, and in-app training videos for guided improvement. These in-app videos include content from Milos himself and drills from other top tennis professionals.
Simply attach the Zepp multi-sport sensor to the handle of any racquet, then start play tracking and instantly capture data on your smartphone or tablet (iPhone, iPad or Android device) with the new and improved Zepp Tennis 2.0 app.
“Zepp is providing data for some of the most important aspects of the game, like power, consistency, and other areas I focus on every day in practice. Having data that connects what you’re feeling to what’s actually happening will help players at all levels improve faster,” says Raonic.
Additional features include the ability to overlay and compare two serves, compare a serve to a tennis pro or coach, view the serve history and track trends and performance over time. Users can also choose between 3D Serve Practice and Play Tracking, the former offering 3D serve analysis only and the latter providing the ability to track and aggregate swing data about the user’s forehand, backhand and serve during a practice session or a match.
The Zepp multi-sport sensor is available at Apple stores, most Best Buy and Verizon stores, tennis-warehouse.com and Zepp.com for $149.99. The new Zepp Tennis 2.0 app is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Zepp multi-sport sensor also works for golf, baseball and softball using the Zepp Golf and Zepp Baseball/Softball apps.
Additional Information on Zepp Tennis’ Metrics
• Racket Speed Impact measures, in miles per hour, the velocity of the sweet spot of the racket when it impacts with the ball.
• Ball Spin indicates the amount of spin the racket puts on the ball after impact and is calculated on a scale of 0 (no spin) to 10 (maximum amount of spin).
• Backswing Time measures, in seconds, the time between tossing the ball until the lower point of the racket drop position, or when the user has brought his or her racket up, and bent the arm in an L shape, and the racket head has dropped in preparation to swing and make impact.
• Impact Time measures, in seconds, the time from the end of the backswing until the racket impacts the ball.
