19 Apr 2012

Recon Instruments’ Head Up Display (HUD) technology provides skiers and riders with real-time performance data

VANCOUVER – April 19, 2012 – Recon Instruments, award winning innovator of Heads-up Display (HUD) technology for action sport athletes, is excited to announce it will demo the Recon Ready Scott NAV-R-2 Goggle and MOD Live this weekend at the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival 2012 in Whistler BC.  Telus attendees will have the first opportunity for a hand’s on experience with newest Recon Ready goggle before it goes on sale next season at the Whistler Demo Park outside Roundhouse lodge this Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-2PM.

The MOD Live, the world’s first and only HUD for alpine goggles, provides skiers and riders with real-time information including  Jump  AnalyticsNavigation, SpeedBuddy Tracking, Smartphone Connectivity, and Music Playlist access direct-to-eye.  MOD Live even transforms into a wireless viewfinder when paired with Contour action cameras so the user can see what they are about to film via the micro-LCD screen mounted inside the goggle frame.

“This is our second year at Telus WSSF, which as Canada’s largest ski and snowboard festival is a perfect venue to showcase our MOD Live heads-up display,” said Tim Yu, Director of Brand Development at Vancouver based Recon Instruments.  “This is our backyard, so it’s very exciting to be able to let people demo our product and show off just how far we’ve come.”

Festival attendees will also have a chance to win a MOD Live and a pair of the unreleased Scott Recon Ready goggles.  Attendees who demo any of the Recon Ready goggles from Scott, Uvex, Alpina, Zeal Optics, Briko or Smith will be entered into the competition and the winner will be announced on Mountain FM on Saturday April 21 at 5pm.

Everyone who demos the HUD will receive a $100 gift certificate to use towards the purchase of a MOD Live and Uvex goggles at Whistler retailer Skiis and Bikes.

MOD Live is available for $399.99 or €360 at www.reconinstruments.com and the major snow sports retailers across the world.
