KEMPELE, Finland – Polar, the pioneer of wearable sports and fitness technology and the leader of heart rate monitoring for more than 35 years, introduces Polar Club, a unique cloud-based training system that club owners and instructors can implement into group exercise classes. Through the use of a Polar H7 heart rate sensor, an iPad, and the Polar Club app and web service, health clubs can provide real-time guidance during classes as well as manage, track and analyze the quality and quantity of group exercise classes.
“Polar Club provides clubs with a unique personal touch to the member experience,” says Marco Suvilaakso, Group Product Director at Polar. “We’ve built Club to support an in-club experience as well as an online community where instructors and club members can share trainings, post and comment and share announcements. The system is not only an effective community-building, class management and reporting tool, but also it provides a way for instructors to make real-time adjustments to help their clients meet fitness goals.”
Instructors use the Polar Club app during classes to view live heart rate data from participants and offer real-time feedback and guidance during workouts. Live animated group and individual rewards keep the group motivated and on track to reach their targeted heart rate zones. The app also allows instructors to view scheduled classes, sign up club members, create new classes and view data from recent sessions.
The Polar Club web service provides monthly management reports, offering insights into which club member trained the most, which class/instructor was most popular and which classes burned the most calories and collected the most zone time. Club members can use the web service to post on the club wall, sign up for classes, view club announcements and upcoming classes.
Polar Club expands the reach of a club and its instructors via the Polar Flow ecosystem, offering club members a personalized, engaging training experience. Club members can also keep track of and analyze their training progress via their personal Flow accounts and training diary. Outside of class, members can continue achieve and track their fitness goals via a Polar Flow compatible product such as the Loop 2, A300 or A360, and sync all their workouts and daily activity to Polar Flow. Users can give instructors access to their out-of-class data via Polar Flow for Coach, allowing instructors to analyze training sessions and create individualized training plans for their clients.
There are more than 1,000 registered clubs in over 30 countries currently using Polar Club.
“Integrating Polar into our club was a natural transition as many of our members were already using Polar products,” said Joe Casalese, Director of Fitness for MVP Sports Clubs. “Our members enjoy coming to the MVP Zone Training classes on a weekly basis where they are coached through heart rate zones and can track their progress live in class and then continue tracking activity outside of class through Polar Flow and Polar Beat.”
