The smart shirt that measures 42,000 data points per minute, transmits metrics in real-time and allows for advanced training, is now optimized for the champions of tomorrow
MONTREAL – January 5, 2015 – Hexoskin, the biometric smart shirt that provides users with in-depth insight regarding their physical training, sleep and daily activities, is now available for children and teenagers with the release of Hexoskin Junior. Hexoskin Junior is the World’s first biometric smart shirt tailor-made for kids and teens and has been adapted to fit all the same sensors of the adult shirts, into the smaller shirt sizes.
“Youth athletics are popular all over the world,” said Pierre-Alexandre Fournier, Co-Founder and CEO of Hexoskin. “Whether it’s hockey, baseball, football, soccer, volleyball or track & field, kids are part of intense training programs that are training them to become champions and Olympians. With the addition of Hexoskin Junior, we’ve set out to provide coaches, parents and kids the invaluable tools our adult shirts provide.”
Essentially a wearable precision lab, Hexoskin provides its users with lab-quality metrics when performance truly matters – REAL TIME. Hexoskin, with the support of NASA and the Canadian Space Agency, created sensors made of textile, leaving almost no hardware in the shirt.
“Our future hockey champs have been wearing Hexoskin Junior for a few months now,” says Stéphane Goyette, President of Goyette 360 Hockey training camp. “It’s fascinating to see how much biometric data we can record on these youth’s while they progress throughout their training sessions. Viewing their own data in real time truly motivates them to go that extra mile. We wish this technology had existed earlier!”
A small Bluetooth device is connected to the fabric sensors and placed in the shirt’s built-in side pocket during activity and sleep. The shirt is extremely light, warm, comfortable, and provides users with measurements they simply cannot receive from regular fitness trackers.
In addition to measuring basic metrics such as heart rate, step count, sleep duration and calories burned, the device also measures heart rate recovery, heart rate variability, breathing rate, breathing volume, activity level, acceleration, cadence and much more, ALL IN REAL TIME. These metrics give users the information they need to surpass their fitness and athletic goals.
By reviewing the data before, during and after workout sessions, users can exert maximum training effort, while still avoiding fatigue, overtraining and injuries. This is particularly important with young athletes, especially since they are still growing and can be at a greater risk for injury than adult athletes.
Hexoskin Junior is available for pre-order in sizes XXS to XL and will retail for $149. For more information or to order today, visit www.hexoskin.com.
Used for scientific testing1 and astronaut training2, Hexoskin is a smart device that connects to an intelligent sports garment with integrated sensors to capture body metrics, such as heart rate, breathing rate, acceleration, and more. Hexoskin’s mission is to record and organize personal health information and make it accessible and useful. To get better and more affordable health and fitness services, people will need to wear health sensors. Connectivity, increased interest for health and fitness, population aging and the consumerization of healthcare are strong tailwinds for Hexoskin. For more information, visit www.hexoskin.com
